Located very close to the historical centre of Palermo, the villa occupies a 24-acre park that features winding paths, an enchanted pond with swans, a neoclassical gazebo and a wide variety of exotic plants and represents a remarkable and unique blend of Sicilian history. There are multiple sitting/dining areas, terraces and a private swimming pool. Many famous people have sojourned here during the centuries, including Wagner, who completed his opera Parsifal here. The villa and its surrounding grounds are the perfect location for the sophisticated traveller who wishes to experience an old-world atmosphere that revels in a glorious past. Located very close to the historical centre of Palermo, which remains a jewel of the Mediterranean and no visit to Sicily is ever complete without a visit to Palermo. Considered one of the most conquered cities, you will find La Martorana a splendid Norman church with a baroque facade. Among the most important tourist attractions of Palermo are the city's Norman Cattedrale and the Saracen-Norman-Spanish Palazzo Reale (or Palazzo dei Normanni), a former royal palace added to and altered over the centuries, and now the seat of the local parliament. You can visit parts of the latter building, including the Cappella Palatina, an exquisite chapel containing rich mosaics. The imposing Teatro Massimo and Vucciria market (which features heavily in Peter Robb's 'Midnight in Sicily'). Plays acted by marionettes are a local tradition and you can visit the puppet museum, Museo delle Marionette, to learn more about the history of the art. Museums include Gallareia Regionale in palazzo Abatellis.

Beside the most important artistic sites spread throughout Palermo, you have to experience the gastronomic Sicilian traditions of the excellent pastry shops and bars that serve ice cream, pastries and granita (flavoured ices). If you want to sample these tempting delights in a leisurely setting, we suggest the charming outdoor cafés on Via Principe di Belmonte, which runs from Via Maqueda to Via Roma near the Politeama Theatre. Located in the city's best shopping district, Via Belmonte is closed to traffic, making it Palermo's answer to Rome's Piazza di Spagna or Via Condotti. The city doesn't only offer great cuisine and fascinating history. Palermo also has some very good shopping and many of the better shops are conveniently located in the city centre near Via Maqueda and Via Libertà, on the side streets, you will find shops that sell everything from antiques to Sicilian-made specialty goods like ceramic items and original jewellery. For a different nightlife experience, you may want to check Kursaal Kalhesa, located in the heart of the city and at the same time facing the sea. This place is more than a night life spot with great interior design and a vibrant atmosphere along with quality services such as a library, a restaurant, wine bar, internet point, a concert site and also an information tourist office.
