Italy Holiday Villa 4845

This beautiful villa, located on a private farming estate, has been recently restored in the typical architecture of old Tuscan country style. The decor is elegant and eclectic. The property enjoys stunning views of the countryside and is located a ten minute drive away from the historic art town of Siena.  A wonderful feeling of calm and serenity permeates the villa.

 

On the ground level, the former stables have been converted into a large living room, ideal to celebrate special occasions, weddings, and family reunions. The lovely dining area has an adjacent kitchen that is perfect for cooking and large parties.  A staircase brings you to a broad central hall on the first level, which leads to all the living quarters, including a spacious two-room living room. An upper room, separated by a couple of stairs, is furnished with two large, comfortable, upholstered couches and rattan side chairs around a modern wood coffee table. The second sitting room is larger (features a fireplace and a CD/tape player) with access to a loggia/outdoor lounging area with views framed by opened arched windows. A guest bathroom is also located on the ground floor.  Open stairs lead to a BBQ, perfect for those country evenings.

 

The bedrooms include a pleasant twin bedroom that shares a bathroom with an elegant queen bedroom with a view of the countryside. The bathroom is generously proportioned and equipped with a Jacuzzi and exercise bike. The floor is completed with one queen bedroom with en suite bathroom, and two delightful twin bedrooms with beautiful country views and private bathrooms. In the courtyard, there is an independent twin bedroom with bathroom, reached by a separate entrance.  A wonderful garden for relaxing and dining alfresco and a stunning view of the Tuscan hills can be enjoyed from the pool. Large parties can rent also the adjacent house (ref. 4839), which sleeps four.

The villa is located on a private farming estate approximately ten minutes drive from the medieval town of Siena, basic shopping can be done in a nearby village, just a short walk from the farmhouse.  Siena is a town where much medieval preservation still exists today and is built across several beautiful hills and valleys,  which can be slightly gradiented, noticable while walking through the historical center.  However, the lack of traffic makes it a wonderful place to stroll, even when packed with tourists there is a quiet and easygoing feel. 

 

A must-see is the shell-shaped square called Il Campo. This is the focal point of the city as well as being the venue for the internationally renowned horse race, the Palio.  Casole d'Elsa hosts one of the most charming museums of the many recently opened/restyled in Siena. The art exhibited ranges from the Neolithic era to the XVII century.

 

A visit to the attached Collegiata di Casole is also highly recommended.  Within Colle Val d'Elsa's newer outskirts crystal manufacturing can be found and the old town/historical center, Colle Alta, deserves to be seen.  Particularly interesting is the Palazzo Campana, built in the XVI century by the architect Agnolo di Baccio d'Agnolo. This private building looks like a city gate, or a triumphal arch, and dominates the main street of Colle. The Cathedral shows a rich collection of paintings from the XVII century. Don't miss the dramatic and intense Nativity by Rutilio Manetti (fourth chapel on the right, looking to the main altar).

 

Situated in the heart of Tuscanys Brunello winemaking region, Castiglion del Bosco is one of Tuscanys largest estates. It is located in the Province of Siena, just 60 miles south of Florence and 125 miles north of Rome. Castiglion del Boscos vast poperty spans six miles, comprising nearly 4,500 spectacular acres of protected nature preserve.
